The
BrahmaKumaris - the philosophy, the perspective and the
purpose.
Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa
Vidyalaya, (Brahma Kumaris in short) is a unique Vishwa Vidyalaya (university)
and a well known spiritual value based educational institution.Through it’s
teachings, the institution has gained global acceptance and unique international
recognition. The institution believes in the parenthood of God and the
brotherhood of man and is open to the people of the entire globe irrespective of
their caste, creed, age and social, economic or political status.
Prajapita
Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya and the two other institutions created
by it, namely Raj Yoga Education and Research Foundation and Brahma Kumaris
Academy for a Better World are dedicated to the goal of establishing a
Value-based society. The main focus is the development of human potential. They
aim at bringing harmony in human relations and changing the attitudes and
outlook of man so that there is the spirit of brotherhood, love and
co-operation.
In order to achieve this goal of establishing a new world order in which there is honesty, sincerity, goodwill and high civic sense, these institutions facilitate people to have a clear vision of their goal and also respective role in the world drama. They give them a clear world view and also knowledge of their own identity. They also teach theory and practice of Rajyoga Meditation so that man’s mind becomes free from tension, bias, prejudices, hypocrisy, jealousy, hatred, greed, ego and such other negative tendencies that cause conflict in the society and degrade the person himself. It gives special guidance for the effort of inculcating moral values and divine virtues in the self and enables a person to experience deep peace and bliss through Meditation and Spiritual Wisdom.
The emphasis of Brahma Kumaris is on promoting the qualities of humanism, tolerance and never-ending enthusiasm for spreading the knowledge of truth in every sphere of life. The institution recognises the intrinsic spirituality and goodness of every human being and helps people rediscover that goodness themselves within, encouraging and facilitating the development of spiritual awareness, attitudes, behavior and skills through a process of lifelong learning. The institution's purpose is to share the vision of a world where people live in harmony with others and to strengthen individual awareness of the dignity and inherent worth of every human being.
The institution imparts knowledge and experience that enable a
person to face the problems of life in a calm, composed and confident manner and
to stand like a rock in the midst of strong storms of circumstances. Only such a
person can lead a life of inner satisfaction and kindle in others stable faith
in goodness and only such a person brings honour to his nation. It firmly
believes that education should be for practical life and not merely for a
vocation or a profession or job. The education imparted here, though visibly
spiritual in content, is a happy blend of ethics, practical psychology,
metaphysics or philosophy, the gist of world history and culture, sociology,
political science and, in fact, many other subjects.
As an international
institution, the Brahma Kumaris offers people of all backgrounds an opportunity
to learn meditation and deepen their understanding of universal principles and
innate values through a variety of educational programmes, courses and learning
resources. As a worldwide family of individuals from all walks of life, the
institution provides a caring, co-operative and supportive environment, which
encourages individuals to bring out the best in themselves. As a global
organization, the institution has created opportunities for people across the
world to participate in a variety of initiatives aimed at creating a better
world where people live in peace and harmony.
The institution believes
that all the problems plaguing the society and the world today - social,
economical, political, religious etc – can be eradicated only by building
character in all human beings. There is a well-known saying that “if character
is lost, everything is lost”. Hence the institution gives utmost importance to
character-formation and to maintaining peace. It believes that if peace is lost,
everything is meaningless and purposeless. The inculcation of moral and
spiritual values is not a luxury or burden but an absolute necessity.
Brahma Kumaris is an institution with a difference. It is run mostly by
women with a spirit of dedication, devotion, renunciation and sacrifice for the
welfare of the society as a whole, without any distinction on the basis of race,
religion, nationality, caste or creed and without charging any fees. It is
supported by voluntary contributions of its students.
N.B. From the experience of
students of Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, Brahmakumaris
through their Rajayoga meditation shows us the true God whom the prophets said
that one and only one God, that light energy source which dwells in eternity. Positive Thinking Is above teachings of
BrahmaKumaris consoled your mind? If not make a fullstop
for your worries. A fullstop, a point, a
Bindu. Then start from that
Bindu. That Bindu is
infinitesimally smaller than nucleus, but infinitively powerful than solar
energy. That Bindu is the God
who dwells in Param Dham. We can reach there by
living here by doing Raja Yoga meditation. Raja Yoga is the one and only one
meditation ever found. It is propagated by God
through Brahma Kumar, Brahma Kumaris. To study Rajayoga free

When the mind
works well the body will also work well.
A Rich Person
A
rich person is not someone who has more, but someone who desires less.
The Stages Of One With A Benevolent Attitude
When you
extend pure love to everyone with selfless motivation that is
an attitude of
kindness. When you send good wishes and pure feelings
to those who are in
deep sorrow, that is an attitude of mercy. When
you see the virtues rather
than the weaknesses in people that is an
attitude of compassion. When you
bless and uplift someone even as they
defame you, that is an attitude of
forgiveness. When you tolerate a
situation and take responsibility as well
as give cooperation even
when not appreciated, that is an attitude of
humility and
self-respect.
Every second, every moment and every breath
of your life is nurtured
by attitude.
Cultivate Silence
Behind all creation is silence. Silence is the essential condition,
the vital ingredient for all creation and all that is created. It is a
power in its own right. The artist starts with a blank canvas -
silence.
The composer places it between and behind the notes. The very
ground of your
being, out of which comes all your thoughts, is
silence. The way to silence
is through meditation. When you arrive in
your own silence you will know
true freedom and real power. Stop, take
a minute, and listen to the silence
within you today. Then be aware of
what disturbs your inner silence. It
could be negative thoughts,
memories, sensations. And when you are aware,
you will know what is
draining your creative power, and you will know what
needs to
change...on the inside!
Actions Mirror Thoughts
Your actions are a mirror of your thoughts; have elevated thoughts
and
your actions will be elevated.
Truth
You believe
truth is not something you read in a book, but something
you do with your
life.
Stillness
Stillness of spirit doesn't mean lack of
movement, but that thoughts
and feelings move in the right direction
naturally.
First Think
First think and then act, this way
you save time and energy
Flow of Life
When I generate kind
and optimistic thoughts, my life begins to flow.
Positivity
Embrace life with the enthusiasm of one who knows there is untold
benefit in every scene.
Spread Happiness
Those who are
great spread happiness through their every action.
Mercy
If I keep the weaknesses of others in my mind, they soon become a
part of me.
Character
Humility dismisses nothing, rather,
it takes even small things into
consideration. It recognises that whatever
life presents, needs to be
respected. Small things are easily found in
something big, but inside
little things there is often greatness.
Banish Worry
Worry is otherwise known as 'fantasised
catastrophising' where we
create an image of the future and use it to
frighten ourselves! Be
aware that you are doing it, then stop doing it,
otherwise the image
will become a self fulfilling prophesy. Imagine only the
brightest
future, and so it will be. Besides there is nothing to worry
about...
unless you are under the illusion that your well-being and security
are dependent on material things. If they are, then you will have many
ways in which you can create worry. Possible loss, damage, separation,
uncertainty are but a few. Look, you're killing yourself with worry,
all
because of the misuse of your imagination. Don't do it.
Cool Mind
Success springs from coolness of the mind. It is a cold iron which
cuts and bends hot iron.
Be Simple
Live simply so that
others may simply live. It's a nice idea, but our
lives are more complicated
and complex than ever. What can you
simplify today - your desk, perhaps your
thoughts, a meeting? Simple
means easy. Simple means asking, "Is this really
necessary?" Simple
means keeping it short but sweet. Simple means keeping
the focus of
your attention on what you need to do now. Today's mantra is,
"lets
keep it simple."
Less Is More
Fear less, hope
more; eat less, chew more; whine less, breathe more;
hate less, love more
and all good things are yours.
Create Continuously
Every
day is an opportunity to be creative - the canvas is your mind,
the brushes
and colours are your thoughts and feelings, the panorama
is your story, the
complete picture is a work of art called, 'my
life'. Be careful what you put
on the canvas of your mind today - it
matters.
Love
Love blinds us to people's faults but hate blinds us to their
virtues
Forgiveness And Tolerance
Forgiveness and
tolerance are the hands of God in action. We need to
join our hands with
God's to learn and do the same.
Optimism
Optimism converts
problems into opportunities
Peace
If I always do my best,
I will be free from regrets.
Humility
Your happy and
peaceful nature unlocks the door to success, and
attracts the blessings and
respect of all souls.
Happiness
You are a lighthearted
soul who laughs in the face of fear, and only
cries tears of joy.
Brotherhood
Brotherhood means understanding that a cry of
pain means the same in
all languages and so does a smile.
Guiding
Light
In the midst of uncertainty, keep determination in your
thoughts and
that will become like a guiding light in front of you
Seeing Things Truly
We tend to see things not as they are,
but as we are. Becoming quiet
and simple inside is the first step towards
seeing things truly.
Slips
A slip of the foot I may
recover, but a slip of the tongue leaves a
deep imprint.
Spiritual
Holiday
To feel renewed give yourself a spiritual holiday. You don't
have to
go anywhere except inside yourself.
Patience
Patience and more patience enable a closed mind to gently unfurl.
Manners
When we encounter good manners, we feel that some
deeper part of us
has been honoured. Truly, none of us deserves anything
less.
Mercy
When others are annoyed with me and saying
critical things, if I
question why, it is like pouring oil on a fire.
Resent Not
There are no justified resentments. To resent
someone is to fall under
the illusion that they are the cause of our
suffering. No one can die
from a snake bite. It's the poison that kills
them. You may receive
the poison of another's words, or even just in a
glance, but you don't
have to absorb it or allow it free passage through the
veins of your
consciousness. The consequence of not absorbing the poison of
others
is you never experience enmity towards others. And people notice when
you have absolutely no enmity. It draws them close, it empowers them,
it
builds trust, it enables harmony to break out! It is only because
the lion
has no thought of killing the lamb that the lamb feels able
to come so
close.
Deep Self-Respect
Spirituality creates the kind of
deep self-respect that does not need
praise or special attention.
Free Mind
A free mind is a mind that is open to everything
and attached to
nothing. Most people spend much of their time looking for
reasons to
be offended. An open mind is never offended because it is free of
any
attachments. It is never the self that is offended but always the
illusion that the self has of itself that is affected by insult! If
you
can really understand this, deeply grasp it?s truth, live it each
day, then
pain will be no more. Next time you ?feel? offended look
closely within
yourself at yourself and ask yourself what was
offended? If you remain aware
you will see that it was only an image
of yourself which you had become
attached to, and that image did not
resonate with the image contained in the
insult. If you weren?t
attached, if you didn?t identify with the wrong image
of yourself then
there would be no offence taken. You would then remain free
and
therefore happy.
Patience
Being patient helps me
to understand why things are taking some time.
Contentment
If I do everything with the feeling of happiness, there will be no
task too difficult to perform.
Happy New Year.
The
ability to enjoy my own company is one of life's most valuable gifts.
Generosity
You are a soul who does not wait for happy
endings, but creates them
with the power of a generous heart.
Great Wealth
Even with a small bank account, the one who
is contented finds himself
with great wealth.
Balance
When you have learned to balance silence and activity, you will be
powerful.
Accounts Payable
If we recognize that all inner
and outer effects or results in our
lives have causes which can be found
within ourselves, then we
understand karma or the law of sowing and reaping.
If we are aware
that we have just awoken to this law, and that we are
consciously live
with this law in our awareness we will also be aware that
we were
asleep to this law before - perhaps for a long time, possibly many
births. It is therefore highly likely we tried to break the law. What
we
did not know was we cannot break this law. We cannot take anything
without
having to pay it back at some future stage. We may receive but
we may not
take - there is a difference. If we have taken then we must
payback. Any
form of pain or discomfort - mental, emotional or
physical - means it is
payback time. The universal debt collector has
come to knock on our door.
Accounts are being settled. If you can
regard all pain, from a bump on the
head to an emotional crisis, as
the settling of a debt, you will be using
the oldest wisdom to respond
to life in the most enlightened way. The
destination, once all
accounts are settled, and all debts paid, is true
peace and real
freedom. Peace of mind and freedom from all pain.
Complete
If you wanted and didn't get, may be you don't need.
Greet
life with enthusiasm and confidence by constantly maintaining
the awareness
of how cherished you are.
May you Sparkle with Joy
Radiate with Peace
and Shine with Happiness
The Greatest Conqueror
One may conquer a
thousand men a thousand times in battle but he who
conquers the self is the
greatest conqueror.
Response Able
We now know that the
true meaning of responsibility is response able
or ability to respond.
Whatever we may think, say, do, or feel - these
are our responses for which
we, and no one else, are responsible. This
is easy to see but hard to live,
for we have been taught to believe
and think the opposite. So we don't
consciously choose our response,
we react instead, and then we blame others
for our reaction. No wonder
we feel imprisoned by others and our
circumstances. The enlightened,
on the other hand, have broken the spell,
they see the illusion. They
take full responsibility for their response
abilities and as a
consequence, they always hold their own destiny in their
own hands.
They are free spirits.
Lightness
By letting
go of all that is heavy, you become free to fill with all
that is light.
Sign of Strength.
To admit my mistakes is a sign of
strength.
Crown Of Light
There is a crown of light on
those who are carefree. If you are
worrying about anything you carry the
baskets of burden on your head.
Which do you prefer? Do you prefer the
basket or the crown of light?
Stray Thoughts
Your
controlling power should be such that you should have only such
thoughts at
a particular time as you desire to have. No more, no less
Happiness
Happiness is the result of total appreciation of all that life gives
you at every moment.
First Impressions
Be careful.
Your each expression will leave an impression.
Self-esteem
When I inspire enthusiasm and confidence in those around me, my own
self-esteem flourishes.
Truth
Truth is something which
does not need support of any proof
Personal Protection Plan
When I am faced with pressures, a loving attitude towards myself
will
protect my peace of mind
Simplicity
There is
great beauty in simplicity. That which is simple is close to Truth
Positive Thoughts
Positive thoughts bring happiness and
success
Faith
The faith that can move mountains needs
three ingredients to work:
belief in yourself, belief in others, and the
ability to draw on your
inner strength.
Inspirations
When you refuse to set boundaries to what is achievable, you can
inspire
others to believe that they, too, can make things happen.
Patience
The fruits of patience are always sweet - mangoes cannot be grown by
hurrying.
Love Work
You always have a choice but you
forget that you have it. Do you
remember the energy and enthusiasm you had
on the first day of your
first job? You consciously chose to do the work you
had gladly
accepted to do. But then you gradually fell asleep to the choice
you
made, and the day became "I have to" go to work, instead of "I want
to" go to work. You forgot to see all the opportunities which come
with
work - opportunities like learning, nourishing and being
nourished by
others, developing new relationships, expanding your
personal capacity.
Instead you decided it was just something that you
had to do to 'get the
money'. This is why most people are
sleep-walking through their lives, and
they don't know it. The
solution, choose your work every day, put the energy
of love into your
relationships...every day, even if you don't particularly
like your
job or the people around you. And you'll be amazed at how your
life
transforms. When you choose to put love into what you do, the universe
will move heaven and hell to let you do what you love.
Respect
The respect you earn is no lesser or greater than your own
self-respect. Therefore, respect yourself and God and the world will
respect you.
Aim High
An aimless life is like a
journey without a destination.
Real Renunciation
On the
path mapped out by the true spiritual philosophers and
pioneers, there is
great emphasis placed on the idea and need for
renunciation. It is seen as
the way to enlightenment, and freedom from
the attachments which we misuse
as sources of limited happiness and
contentment. Renunciation does not mean
giving everything away,
shaving our heads, saying farewell to family and
friends and finding a
Himalayan mountain top. It means seeing our
attachments and
dependencies, our weaknesses and our evasions, and
consciously giving
them up. There is no sense of loss. The material
necessities still
come to us, paradoxically more will come. And when we
renounce our own
weaknesses and dependencies there is always a strength and
a new
freedom to be found hiding underneath. Renunciation is a pathway to a
simpler life and a highway to spiritual freedom - one of spirit's
deepest yearnings in 'the age of accumulation'.
Make Efforts
To be inspired by God does not mean that God will do it - one needs
to
make efforts as well
Present Chances
If we get
involved in fears about the future, we shall miss the
chances that the
present offers us.
Excuses, Excuses.
If you want to do
anything you find a way. If you don't want to do
anything you find an
excuse.
Journey Of Life
Journey of life is exciting when
you challenge your own weaknesses.
Some times your enemy teaches you better
than your friend.
Wellbeing
The more I develop the habit
of noticing goodness, the more my own
sense of wellbeing rises.
Renounce Opinions
It's good to have an opinion isn't it?
If you don't have an opinion
about important issues you are seen as weak -
right? This is how
people justify holding an opinion about anything and
everything. But
wait a second - in the moment of expressing your opinion, if
it is the
defense of a position, or it's designed to be against another
opinion,
it is nothing more than an attachment. And this means fear is
present.
It means insecurity. This may explain why those who have the same
opinions form pressure groups and factions, and why there is usually a
great deal of emotion and conflict present. It may explain why there
is
much wailing and weeping, loud words and the crossing of swords
whenever,
opposing opinions meet. Much better to have a point of view,
and to be
extremely interested in others points of view. This says, "I
am flexible",
it says, "I have the humility to learn", and it says, "I
seek to meet you on
the ground we share, as opposed to fight you from
a proclaimed territory."
Take A High Jump
Instead of breaking the rock of problems
with the hammer of waste
thoughts, take a high jump and become one who
crosses over the rock of
problems.
Co-operation
Co-operation comes when there is both love for the task and trust in
the special part each person plays.
Experiencing Silence
Where there is stillness there is depth.
Thought
Vibrations
Every thought creates vibrations. Vibrations are like
sound waves or
radiations. No obstacles, no hurdles can stop them
Speak Sweetly
Nature did not like hardness in speech, so
there is no bone in the tongue.
Think BIG
Rise above
little things. Be a big thinker. You are what you think. So
just think big,
believe big, act big, dream big, work big, give big,
forgive big, laugh big,
image big, love big, live big. Carry that list
and you'll start feeling big.
Be a believer and you'll be an achiever.
Sweet Thoughts
Let sweetness in my thoughts, words and actions be the most visible
of
all virtues.
Wisdom
The essence of wisdom is using
what we know and confessing to what we
do not know.
Tolerance
Everybody is right from his own stand point ... hence the need for
tolerance.
The Unexpected
When I am looking for solutions, I must always
be ready for surprises.
Maturity
Your ability to recognize
the specialities of others makes you a
natural leader.
Anger
Anger is the wall of sorrow that one must remove to enter the sphere
of happiness
Belief Power
If you are ready to alter
some of the current outcomes in your life
then you will need to start with
your beliefs. There are many
categories. First there are 'fatal beliefs' -
"I can't, I'm not able,
I never will." These are the beliefs we have about
ourselves, that set
the boundaries and limitations of ourselves. Then there
are 'blocker
beliefs' - "My kid is stupid...my boss is an idiot...did you
see that
crazy person?" These are beliefs about others and, for however long
they last, they block the flow of energy in a relationship. They are
bricks in the walls we build between each other. Then there are
'survival beliefs' - "Get what you can while you can....there is not
enough to go around...you have to look after number one." These
beliefs
would have us live in fear and anxiety, otherwise known as
insecurity. We
can choose our beliefs. But first we may have to
unchoose the ones that have
crept in over the years, now living
comfortably 'below stairs' and seem to
be part of our inner furniture.
If you want different outcomes in your life,
change your beliefs
first. Clean up down stairs!!
Worthiness
Before I get any kind of advancement or promotion in life I need to
have earned the right to it. There are no free gifts in life nor are
there any short cuts to success of a lasting nature. Being worthy of
any
kind of responsibility requires an attitude of service to others.
I earn a
right only when I have given cooperation to others from my
heart.
Get Busy
Instead of losing sleep over whatever I have done
wrong, let me get
busy doing something right
Cleanliness
The most important places to keep clean and tidy are my mind and
heart. If I allow thoughts to flourish that I wouldn't want to see the
light of day, I can never have any real self-respect. By starting each
day in quiet reflection and pouring positive, loving thoughts into my
mind, I gradually clean out cynicism and unkindness.
Stability
The foundation of stability is looking after my mind - making it
peaceful, loving and thoughtful at all times.
Lightness
If the mind is light you will feel carefree, no matter how the body
feels.
Time
Budget your time in the morning. Audit your
time in the evening.
Time
Budget your time in the morning. Audit your
time in the evening.
Love All
Love can never be exclusive.
The sun does not choose to shine on some
flowers in the garden and not
others. Love is inclusive and has many
faces - caring, listening, sharing
from the heart, just accepting
someone for what they are right now, are all
acts of love, as long as
you seek nothing in return. It all starts with
acceptance of yourself
- you're just fine as you are right now, warts and
all. It's not that
you will stay that way for ever - but you might, if you
don't accept.
The secret key to the greatest door called love is acceptance.
First
your self, then others (especially the ones you currently resist) and
eventually ...all.
Give and Take
Whatever you give
comes back to you. Whatever you take will not stay with you.
Self-respect and Regard
If you develop your sense of
self-respect, then regard will follow you
like your shadow.
Be
Content
Wherever I am is wherever I am meant to be, whatever I am
doing is
whatever I am meant to be doing and whatever everyone else is doing
is
exactly what they are meant to be doing - this is contentment. If you
do want to change where you are, or what you are doing, the first
thing
is to be content with wherever you are and whatever you are
doing right now!
Paradoxically that's what attracts opportunities and
invitations to be
somewhere else! Why? Because you are a living
magnet, and contentment is one
of your most attractive qualities. And
the law of attraction says that
according to your dominant thoughts so
you will attract the people and
circumstances into your life. Being
content right now attracts the best
possible future.
Be Light
If I allow my mind to carry
burdens, I will experience heaviness and
become tired easily.
